Add some color to the dull, drab OR scrubs and display some of your
personality through fabric!
Made by someone who worked alongside you in the OR.
Nicole - a 30yr old Lead Rad Tech at KU Main - has been a part of the team for almost 8 years. Her coworkers call her bad ass, the docs call her "lighting" because she swoops in, takes the shot, and leaves just as fast. She is loved by many and faces a daunting challenge. Recently Nicole was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and now needs to focus that lightning energy on beating this disease. In honor of her fight and October Breast Cancer Awareness, these hats are being offered with a special label to show support for her and proceeds from the sale of each hat will be donated back to Nicole.
Working in the OR requires several different personalities. It's hard to tell what you're getting into when all you see are the silly paper hats. Why not put your flair in the OR with fun, fabric hats!
In fact, it's actually better for our patients!
A study titled "Hats Off: A Study of Different Operating Room Headgear Assessed by Environmental Quality Indicators" posted in the February 2018 edition of The Surgical Technologist had this to say:
"Disposable bouffant hats had greater permeability, penetration and microbial shed, as assessed by passive microbial analysis compared with disposable skull caps. When compared with cloth skull caps, disposable Bouffants yielded greater permeability, greater particulate contamination, and greater passive microbial shed."
All of my hats are made out of 100% cotton. I offer 3 different styles:
- Euro: one of the more popular styles for those looking for a non-puffy hat
- Bouffant: a traditional forehead band with more room for hair in the back
- Skull Cap regular: similar to the paper skull caps
- Skull Cap Large: still a skull cap but for those that might wear a hat size larger than 7 3/8.
Euro and Bouffant styles are adjustable with elastic cord and cord lock; Skull Cap Regular and Large have ties. If you are not happy with your purchase, please reach out to me and I will make it right.
I worked with Sarah in the OR previously and have bought multiple hats from her! She’s very quick to answer questions and the hats are always so comfy and amazing! No matter where I go for work, I will only be ordering hats from Handley’s Scrub Hats!

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am a Fabric-holic.
I am a self-taught sewer who finds great joy in seeing my hats on some of the most compassionate and caring healthcare providers out there.
After being a Certified Surgical Technologist for over 14 years, I recently transitioned to the Orthopedic Implant world. It's strange and I'm still trying to get my bearings but I want to continue to support my brothers and sisters in the OR, so my hats will be the vehicle.
When I'm not sewing, I enjoy keeping up with my 3 sons, my 3 dogs, and my husband Lance of 26 years! Without their support, none of this would be possible.
